9 Ways To Keep You Cheerful On Rainy Holidays

You’ve packed the swimsuits, planned the beach days, and then… the rain rolls in. Don’t worry—your holiday isn’t ruined, it’s just getting a little moody. From turning your hotel room into a catwalk to bingeing on minibar snacks like a true connoisseur, here are some creative ways to make the most of a rainy day on vacation.

Don’t rain on my parade. Standing in the rain at iconic Handara Gate, Bali.

1. Become a spa-day goddess.
Didn’t book a massage? No problem. Slather on that hotel hand lotion like it’s La Mer, wrap your hair in a towel, and declare it “self-care Sunday,” even if it’s Wednesday.

2. Explore the local culture… of your minibar.
Sure, it’s overpriced, but how else will you know what imported gummy bears taste like with a mini Chardonnay?

3. Master the art of moody Instagram shots.
Rain = filter-free aesthetic. Pose dramatically at the window, hold a coffee mug like it’s a prop in a French film, and caption it: “Stormy skies, calm heart.”

4. Write a postcard you’ll never send.
Pour your heart out to your future self. Then forget it in your suitcase until 2027.

5. Turn the hotel room into a catwalk.
Try on all your outfits and strut past the full-length mirror like it’s Paris Fashion Week. Bonus points for narrating it in a French accent.

6. Become a snack connoisseur.
Rainy days are for carbs. Hunt down every local pastry, chip flavor, or mysterious candy at the nearest corner store. Consider it field research.

7. Attempt a YouTube yoga class.
Realise 3 minutes in that your travel mat is actually a folded beach towel and your dog pose looks more like a confused flamingo.

8. Watch foreign soap operas and create your own dramatic subtitles.
No clue what’s going on? Perfect. Make up the plot and voice every character like a tele novella. “Miguel, you lied about the croissants!”

9. Play ‘what if I moved here?’
Scroll local property listings you absolutely can’t afford, Google the visa process, and convince yourself it’s not that unrealistic.

You came to relax, right? Rain is just the universe’s permission slip to wear eye masks at noon and test the limits of how many naps one woman can take in 24 hours.
