Women Love Travel spoke to five women about their dos before they die, and it’s clear that women in their 20s and 30s no longer have the most daring and exciting bucket lists. There has been an unexpected role reversal we are calling the Bucket List Flip.
The younger generation are getting into crafts and the parent and grandparents are giving their kids a run for our money with their new zest for life.
30s: The Skill-Builder List
Kirsty Sloan (Melbourne) In her 30s, Kirsty is focusing on mastery and legacy.
- The Surprise: “Learn to sew” and “Learn golf” — activities once reserved for the retirement village.
- Top 3: Fly a plane, sleep in a tree-house, and adopt a dog in need.
40s: The High-Octane Professional
Candice Cooper-Williams (Sydney) The 40s are no longer for “settling down.” For Candice, this decade is about extreme physical challenges and intellectual expansion.
- The Surprise: An 80km ice skating race in Sweden.
- Top 3: Heli-boarding in NZ, an Antarctic expedition, and working on an archaeological site.
50s: The Stratospheric Adventurer
Vivien Cornish (Former Accountant) Vivien is the ultimate example of trading the calculator for a parachute. Her list is arguably the most “extreme” of the group.
- The Surprise: She has a ticket for Virgin Galactic to go into space.
- Top 3: Bungee jumping, hiking Icelandic volcanoes, and skydiving.
60s: The Adrenaline Addict
Roslyn Prowse (Wollongong) Roslyn didn’t start skydiving until her 60s, and now she’s a regular at the drop zone. Her bucket list reads like an action movie script.
