Australia’s First Andaz is Coming to the Gold Coast

Hyatt’s Andaz brand will make its Australian and Pacific debut on the Gold Coast in late 2026. The new Broadbeach hotel will feature 202 rooms and suites, Mediterranean-inspired dining and an expansive pool club.

The arrival comes as the Gold Coast continues to redefine its luxury offering. Long known for its beaches and high-rise resorts, the city is building a more sophisticated hospitality scene, with a new generation of hotels, restaurants and wellness experiences changing the way travellers experience the destination.

Andaz is Hyatt’s luxury lifestyle brand, known for creating hotels that reflect their surroundings rather than following a prescribed global formula.

General Manager Saraid Carey hosted a lunch at Sydney’s Shell House last week to update a select group of media on plans for the new hotel.

Carey pointed to the energy and pace of South East Queensland, along with the Gold Coast’s growing strengths in wellbeing, design, innovation and food and beverage, as reasons the destination was selected.

“Andaz is a Hindi word meaning personal style,” Carey told guests. On the Gold Coast, that philosophy will extend through the design, food, drinks, wellness offering and small rituals that shape a guest’s stay.

The idea connecting much of it is something intrinsic to the destination: following the sun.

Following the Sun

Designed by DBI Architects with interiors by Hachem, Andaz Gold Coast takes inspiration from the changing light and colours of the coast over the course of a day.

Guests will arrive on level six into a bright palette inspired by morning light on the beach. Moving through Vista Lounge, the colours shift through softer pinks and blues before giving way to warmer golden tones and, finally, deeper greens facing west towards the hinterland.
Described as “chasing the sun”, the concept connects two sides of the Gold Coast: its famous coastline and the rainforest-covered hinterland beyond it.

Level six will form the social heart of the hotel, bringing together the lobby, lounges, bars and outdoor Pool Club.

Rooms & Suites

The hotel’s 202 rooms and suites will have floor-to-ceiling windows, with standard rooms offering skyline or hinterland views. Selected corner rooms will offer hinterland or partial ocean view.

Rooms will include complimentary minibar snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, Nespresso machines, Byredo bath amenities, Dyson hairdryers and Chromecast-enabled televisions.
Some rooms add substantial private outdoor space. The Sunset View Terrace room, for example, combines a 42-square-metre interior with a 52-square-metre terrace overlooking the hinterland.

Suites introduce separate living and dining spaces, deep soaking baths, dual vanities and walk-in wardrobes.

At the top end, the 132-square-metre Andaz Residence Suite adds a further 49-square-metre entertainer’s terrace, along with a full kitchen and separate living and dining areas.

Food, Coffee and Cocktails

Executive Chef Matthew Bentley will oversee the hotel’s food offering. As Carey told media at the launch, his career includes time in the UK and Europe, including Michelin-starred restaurants, followed by more than a decade working in Australia.

Nove Restaurant and Bar will draw on Spanish, Italian, French and Eastern Mediterranean influences, interpreting them through Australian produce and fire-led cooking. Shared dishes will be central to the menu.

Carey describes Bentley’s food philosophy as generous and innovative, but neither formal nor stuffy.

Breakfast will also move away from the conventional large hotel buffet. Instead, guests will choose from a selection of smaller, freshly prepared dishes, from eggs and protein bowls to lighter options.

Vista Lounge will serve coffee and casual food throughout the day and provide a setting for meetings, high tea and drinks. Carey, who describes herself as serious about coffee, says particular attention is being paid to the coffee offering.

Later in the day, Verde Bar will offer cocktails and small plates as the sun sets towards the hinterland.

The Pool Club

The level-six Andaz Pool Club is being conceived as a place to spend the day rather than simply somewhere to swim.

Carey says private cabanas and yoga will set a relaxed daytime pace, alongside Mediterranean and Levantine-inspired food, cocktails and champagne. Later in the day, DJs will shift the mood towards a more social atmosphere.

She describes it as somewhere to “leave the world behind”.

Local rituals and golden hour

The changing light that informs the hotel’s design will also influence the guest experience.
Each evening, guests will be invited to a complimentary golden-hour drinks ritual, marking the transition from afternoon into evening.

The team is developing other details specifically for the Gold Coast property, including products it sources locally for the complimentary minibar and bespoke elements it designs around different times of the day.

The idea is to make the experience specific to its location rather than replicate rituals found at other Andaz hotels.

Beyond the beach

One of the more interesting elements of Andaz Gold Coast is the attention being given to the destination beyond its coastline.

Carey says the hotel is working with local makers and producers to develop bespoke wellness products, including bath salts, oils and candles, with some sourced from the Gold Coast hinterland and Mount Tamborine.

Andaz hosts will also act as local insiders, introducing guests to food, culture, creative communities and experiences across the coast and hinterland.

For Carey, this is particularly relevant for guests who may be visiting for business or an event and have limited time to explore.

The Gold Coast’s beaches need little introduction. The hinterland, its producers and creative communities offer another side of the destination.

Location

Andaz Gold Coast will occupy floors six to 21 of a 65-storey tower within The Star Gold Coast precinct at 16 Casino Drive, Broadbeach.

The hotel is close to the beach, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and Broadbeach’s restaurants, bars and shopping, with direct connectivity to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Opening Date and offers

Andaz Gold Coast is expected to open in late 2026 and reservations are now open. Hyatt has not announced a formal opening date, although stays are currently available to book from 14 December 2026.

The Grand Opening Offer provides 20 per cent off eligible room rates, increasing to 25 per cent for World of Hyatt members, for selected stays through to 30 June 2027.
The Gold Coast Escape package includes a $100 dining and drinking credit and a complimentary room upgrade, subject to availability and a minimum two-night stay.

The arrival of Andaz adds another international luxury name to a Gold Coast hospitality scene that is becoming increasingly ambitious. But the more interesting story is how the hotel intends to interpret its location.

From a design that follows the changing light to Mediterranean food, local makers and a stronger connection with the hinterland, Andaz Gold Coast is looking beyond the destination’s most familiar calling card to present a broader picture of the Gold Coast.
